South Korea will strengthen export controls to Russia and Belarus for goods that can be used for military purposes. Yonhap agency reports about this.

Prior to this announcement, South Korea had added 682 items of actual or potential military use to the list of prohibited items for shipment to Russia and Belarus.

“The ministry will strengthen the implementation of export controls within the framework of relations with affiliated entities, as there will be more attempts to evade export controls and the number of deliveries through bypass channels will increase,” South Korea’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said in a statement.

The department added that South Korea will make efforts to inform exporters of the updated list of controlled goods to prevent unauthorized exports.

After adding 682 names to the list of banned products in Russia and Belarus, the total number of products in the list reached 1159. These include heavy construction equipment, rechargeable batteries, and aviation components and mechanisms.
