The School of Rock project seeks, in addition to developing a taste for music, to generate among the minor participants who perform better and acquire personality, after facing the public on stage, explained its director Carlos Lama.
“’Hey School of Rock was very good for my son, it has generated many skills; He was shy, not anymore; the stage did him good, now he is communicating much better in a classroom too.
“It doesn’t cost him so much to make a presentation now; It helps you with many things that are not just musical and that is what makes us so proud of this school,” commented Lama.
The project is, for its director, the largest music school in the world, with 65 thousand students around the planet.
This weekend, the groups that graduated from the different levels of classes taught on the campus in this area, the most recent one that opened in November of last year, performed at the Teatro Parque Interlomas.
Lama explained that in Mexico School of Rock has approximately 900 students at its campuses in Interlomas, Polanco and Pedregal, in Mexico City, in addition to San Pedro Garza García, in Nuevo León.
Future drummer
Carlos Cervantes, at nine years of age, faced the audience, as a member of the group Flame Dragons, and on drums he performed, among others, the song Belieber, by his favorite band, Imagine Dragons.
“Well, we have practiced for many months, and for many weeks and I felt safe, I felt safe because I knew we could do it because we had practiced,” Carlos said.
At School of Rock he learned a better technique to play his favorite instrument.
“Before, in another school I had a drum teacher, I played drums but the teacher just said play and we didn’t know how to play, so once I joined School ok Rock I became interested in drums again and I learned to play,” said.
Carlos also likes the violin and the guitar, mathematics is his favorite subject and, in a few years, he imagines himself playing drums in a major rock band.
