The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) delivered humanitarian assistance in the rural area of the municipality of Segovia, in the department of Antioquia, where the situation due to confrontation between armed groups has pushed the authorities to open a humanitarian corridor in the face of the delicate situation.
In the villages of Las Manuelas, Aguacates and Cancha, the ICRC delivered 190 markets with basic necessities such as rice, oil, pasta, beans, lentils, flour, coffee and sardines, among others.
Precisely in this area, four soldiers died last week in clashes against the Gulf Clan, also called Gaitanista Self-Defense Forces of Colombia (AGC), while trying to regain the control that this criminal group has in northeastern Antioquia.
During the delivery of ICRC aid, awareness was also carried out “on safe behavior regarding the risk that exists in this area due to the presence of explosive devices,” the organization said in a press release issued this Sunday.
