Londerzeel –

The Halle-Vilvoorde public prosecutor’s office is conducting an investigation into a possible case of inappropriate behavior by a monitor of a Yes Events sports camp. The sports camp took place during the first week of the Easter holidays in Londerzeel.

“Yes Events was informed by the police of a possible case of inappropriate behavior by one of the monitors of the sports camp,” the organization said in a statement.

“It was the first time that the monitor in question supervised a Yes Events camp. After the report, Yes Events immediately stopped cooperation with the monitor. In consultation with the police, the camp in Londerzeel continued as usual the next day, to keep the consequences for the participants and parents as limited as possible.”

The parents were informed before the start of that camp day. The organization also provided additional guidance to assist parents in case of questions or concerns.

Spokesperson Ingrid Moriau of the Halle-Vilvoorde public prosecutor’s office confirms that a file has been opened and that the investigation is ongoing. “But no more information is currently being provided in this file,” the spokesperson said. It has not yet been established whether criminal offenses have actually been committed. (jhw/dbg)
