A new version of the Puerto de Ideas Antofagasta Science Festival is approaching. One of the first guests announced is Dutch-British physicist Andre Geim, awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2010 together with his peer Konstantin Novoselov for their innovative work on graphene, a material that they managed to extract from graphite that has extraordinary properties and of great interest for various technological applications.

Geim also achieved the levitation of a frog using the magnetic properties of water, for which he won an Ig Nobel, an American parody of the Swedish prizes awarded for the most extravagant research, becoming the only person to win both awards.

The British oceanographer Susannah Buchan will also be part of the festival presented together with Escondida | BHP.
