Satisfaction with the current level of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Slovenia was expressed. Referring to the fact that in 2026, the thirtieth anniversary of diplomatic relations between our countries will be celebrated, the importance of further development of cooperation in a number of potential fields, including economic and energy fields, strengthening of political dialogue, and mutual visits was emphasized. In this regard, the visit of the Minister of Environment, Climate and Energy of Slovenia to our country to participate in the 10th meeting of ministers within the framework of the Southern Gas Corridor Consultative Council and the 2nd meeting of the ministers within the framework of the Green Energy Consultative Council, held in Baku in March of this year, was recalled with pleasure.

Touching on the parliamentary dimension of cooperation, it was noted that the activation of contacts between existing friendship groups in both parliaments and the implementation of mutual visits will contribute to the strengthening of bilateral relations. At the same time, the importance of demonstrating mutual support within multilateral international parliamentary platforms was touched upon.

Congratulations were sent to Slovenia on the occasion of its election to the non-permanent membership of the UN Security Council and the beginning of the implementation of its powers.

During the meetings, the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), which will be hosted by Azerbaijan, relations between our country and the European Union, and issues on the regional and international agenda were discussed.

The Slovenian side conveyed its congratulations to the Azerbaijani side on the occasion of hosting the COP29, emphasized that the climate conference is of great importance due to the changes observed in the world, and expressed that they are ready to cooperate closely with the Azerbaijani side in preparation for the COP29.

Within the framework of the visit, the invitation letter addressed by the President of Azerbaijan to the President of Slovenia regarding the mentioned event was delivered to the other party.

The representative of the President of Azerbaijan on special tasks informed the Slovenian side in detail about the development of the negotiations on the normalization and peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the current situation, and the efforts of our country in the direction of advancing the peace process. Noting that a historical opportunity has arisen for the establishment of lasting peace and stability in the region, it was emphasized that Armenia should refrain from contradictory statements and provocative steps and respect the norms and principles of international law in order to prove that it is serious about the peace process. At the same time, the creation of military infrastructure in the border areas with Azerbaijan, the promotion of militarism in the region, the tripartite meeting in Brussels on April 5, 2024, the arming of Armenia through the European peace mechanism and at the expense of the US budget, which may lead to the creation of dividing lines and tension in the region. the unacceptability of provocative, non-transparent, non-inclusive initiatives and steps was emphasized and it was stated that this does not contribute to the achievement of sustainable peace in the region.
