The video of the incident went viral on social media, showing the residents’ determination to confront crime in their community. However, it is unknown whether agents from the National Civil Police (PNC) intervened in this act of vigilante justice.

“It is essential to follow the legal process to guarantee a justice system that is equitable and respectful of human rights. However, frustration increases when criminals appear to escape justice through bribery or corruption”, “If judges, the National Civil Police and the Public Ministry (MP) adequately fulfilled their functions, there would be no need resort to actions like these by the community”, “It is encouraging to witness a determined community response against crime. However, it is important to address these problems with calm and determination, avoiding expressions of hate or violence,” say some comments in the video.
