She kicks off a festive anniversary tour on Thursday, and now Natalia is in the worst storm of her twenty-year career. The criticism of the VTM program quickly turned into criticism of the “diva behavior” of the singer herself. “What has happened in recent days is not something Natalia can simply ignore,” says Frank Delang, her manager. “It hit hard. But Natalia is a very strong lady. She will get over this. She goes through fire for her fans. The focus is now on the music and celebrating twenty years of hits. That is more important than any television program,” says Frank Delang.
She is well supported, he says. There are many expressions of support. “Very much. From fans, from artists, from TV makers. The crème de la crème. People in front of and behind the scenes who know well enough how things work,” he says. “On Thursday evening we went out for dinner together and one message after another came in. It says a lot that in all our years of career we have never experienced anything like this before. Everyone knows her as someone who is super professional and straightforward. Of course, sometimes a word is said. Yesterday I compared it again to befriended families who go on holiday together and accidentally end up in an apartment together because one of the apartments is not ready yet. Add a camera crew and there will also be tensions and arguments.”
The manager is not sad that the remaining episodes will not be broadcast. “On the one hand, it is a shame, because I understand that there were still beautiful fragments. But at least this way the storm can pass.”
