The Accident Investigation Technical Directorate (DIACC), attached to Aerocivil, indicated in its X account that “investigates the causes of the accident of the Bell 206 helicopter with registration HK4810, which crashed in the Manrique neighborhood of Medellín”.
For its part, the Disaster Risk Management Administrative Department (DAGRD) deployed an operation with 70 people, including rescuers, firefighters and police, to rescue all the occupants of the aircraft, which lost control until it fell and was left hanging. of a telecommunications antenna after making several turns in the air.

“Six people were traveling in the helicopter: a pilot, a co-pilot and four passengers. Four people were trapped. We managed to rescue them and they are being evaluated“, the director of the DAGRD, Carlos Quintero, told journalists. He added that “The pilot is uninjured and got out under his own power. The co-pilot remained on the antenna, and was the first person rescued”. The authorities specified that, after the rescue operation, one of the crew members had to be transferred to a care center for “fracture in one of his legs”.
According to local media, the helicopter is used to take tourist tours, flying over the city with the customers of the Hangar restaurant, where it began to have difficulties before falling in the middle of the strong winds and the storm that occurred in Medellín.
Quintero, for his part, explained that the helicopter had to be secured at various points in the place where it was suspended and they are working on an operation to dismantle it.
