CFE estimates to begin rescue of Pasta de Conchos miners in May

The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) estimated that as of May 12, the entry and search will begin in port 1 and on June 18 in port 2 to recover the bodies of 63 miners trapped in the Pasta de Conchos mine, Coahuila. .

Meanwhile, in the El Pinabete mine it will be in the first week of June when they enter the galleries to rescue the bodies of six miners who are still trapped, as reported by César Fuentes Estrada, Corporate Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Projects at CFE, in charge of the rescue of the bodies.

At President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s press conference, Fuentes gave a report on the work being carried out in the Coahuila coal zone.

“Let’s start the search, We are very close to starting the search for 13 and the 20 miners who are located in those sites that we have been working on,” he explained.

Fuente explained that among the challenges involved in the rescue, two variables must be controlled: avoiding flooding and controlling air quality.

“In the case of luminaire 1 we are going to start the search on May 12 In the light two we are a little further than we have 14 meters to go, we are going to arrive, the search began on June 18,” he said.

The director of CFE, Manuel Bartlett Díaz, stated that the work being carried out is of enormous magnitude, specialized studies and the participation of foreign experts to guarantee the safety of the workers in both mines, as well as for the rescue.

“There was no limitation in the technical support, and the necessary resources, at work because of the commitment expressed by the President to always have clear solidarity with the families of the bereaved of these miners who deserve all the respect and support,” he said.
