Health brigades are deployed throughout the country with the goal of vaccinating 400,000 individuals

Under the motto «Protect their future, vaccinate them«, the Ministry of Health (Minsa) began the Vaccination Week in the Americas (SVA) 2024with the purpose of immunizing more than 400,000 people throughout the country. The program was launched in Bellavista (Callao) with the vaccination of individuals of different age groups.

The Vice Minister of Public Health, Ricardo Pena Sanchezhighlighted the wide availability of vaccines in Peru, with a total of 18 types that provide protection against more than 28 diseases. This guarantees a scheme of vaccination complete for various stages of life, ranging from children and adolescents until adults and older adults.

“The SVA is a fundamental day in the calendar of the Health sector because It involves a massive mobilization of human resources that reaches out to the population to protect them from serious diseases. Vaccination is an act of love and protection, it is ensuring the future of our loved ones,” he commented.

The executive director of Immunizations, Magdalena Quepuy Starnoted that the regions join the Vaccination Week and have deployed vaccination teams in urban, peri-urban and rural areas. The purpose is to locate those who do not have easy access to the health centers and bring them the vaccines of the regular program.

“It is our challenge to recover coverage from the regular vaccination schedule. We are coordinating with regional and local governments. Health is the responsibility of all Peruvians. Let us work together so that the families of Peru are safe and healthy,” she said.

Also present at the kick-off event for Vaccination Week in the Americas 2024 were the Dra. Maureen Birminghamrepresentative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) in Peru, and the regional director of Health of Callao, Carlos Mancilla Herrera.

Health authorities from various regions such as Arequipa, Tacna, Ayacucho, Piura, Loreto, Apurímac, Amazonas, San Martínamong others, the vaccination week activities began with parades and health campaigns.

In it, you can access information about the regular schedule vaccines and against the COVID-19 For children and adults over 5 years old. The platform shows the vaccination history of children born from 2019as well as vaccines received by people over 5 years from 2022 onwards.
