Immediate expulsion of around fifteen families

This story which greatly terrorized the inhabitants of the fokontany of Analapanga, rural commune Soavina district of Antananarivo Atsimondrano. On Tuesday around 6 a.m., residents of the locality encountered the worst of their lives when they saw a group of people who came and ordered them to immediately evacuate their homes. Without warning, the invaders led by a bailiff accompanied by a group of young people. Acting freely and under the eyes of the population in question, the invaders managed to demolish two brick residential houses, a gymnasium and some buildings serving as a cattle farm. This demolition decision, which should affect several buildings including a religious building, follows a dispute involving heirs of the land. According to reports, this case dates back decades. Property of the State, the person who had first occupied and exploited it, for around forty years, would have sold it to someone close to him. The problem is to hear that this transaction took place in trust between families. Furthermore, the land in question was still state property. The owner of this land measuring nearly 17 acres was in the process of obtaining it from the legitimate heirs as the first to have occupied and exploited this land. The problem arises when a person has declared himself to be the owner of this property and to have obtained a proper title issued by the authorities concerned in the matter. Feeling that they have been stripped of their rights, the victim family in this case, on which the lives of around fifteen families depend, are demanding the intervention of the competent authorities in this case. Representing the plaintiffs, Veronique Hanitra Rasoarimalala acknowledges that this case had already reached the Supreme Court. This is why he brought it again to the level of the court of first instance in order to cancel the title of property awarded to what he describes as a usurper and crook last year. Still pending before the courts, the trial of this new appeal complaint is awaiting judgment but what is surprising is why the bailiff of his opposing party rushed to the execution of this measure of eviction and demolition last Tuesday.
