From 10 a.m. – before: “Orientation” obituary
Vienna (OTS) – ORF III will change its program on Saturday, March 9, 2024 and will broadcast live from the cathedral in Salzburg from 10 a.m. the ceremonial funeral of the former Archbishop Emeritus of Salzburg Alois Kothgasser, who died on February 22 at the age of 86.
As the main celebrant, the incumbent Archbishop Franz Lackner pays his last respects to his predecessor. Cardinal Christoph Schönborn, the Apostolic Nuncio to Austria, Archbishop Pedro López Quintana, and more than 20 bishops are expected. The musical framework is provided by the Salzburg Military Music, the cathedral choir as well as the youth choir and cathedral organist Philipp Pelster under the direction of cathedral music director Andrea Fournier. The speeches will be given, among others, by Superintendent Olivier Dantine (Evangelical Church Salzburg-Tirol) and by the state governors Anton Mattle (Tyrol) and Wilfried Haslauer (Salzburg).
Before the live broadcast, ORF III will broadcast at 9:50 a.m. a dacapo of Sandra Szabo’s “Orientation” obituary, which was already broadcast on ORF 2 after Alois Kothgasser’s death.
