Ioannina is a “magnet” for IT giants. And what makes the city attractive for investment is, on the one hand, the quality of life, but mainly the University. The IT departments of both the University of Ioannina and the University of Western Macedonia with their potential create the conditions for a job market with high qualifications.

So far Ioannina has attracted mainly German companies. As a strong regional pole of technology and innovation it attracts the interest of other foreign giants.

The further dynamic expansion with new investments was announced a few weeks ago by the Japanese giant NTT DATA, which is one of the top 10 IT companies in the world, in our country.

As mentioned by Mr. Evangelos Konstantinis, managing director of NTT DATA Greece, on the occasion of the company’s new offices in Greece, the goal for the Greek branch is to achieve a growth rate of 15% in 2023 through the service of international organizations and to become an employer that provides career opportunities, creates added value and strengthens local economies in Greece with the goal of 400 employees by 2026.

In fact, he made it known that the intention is to expand into the Greek region, prioritizing Ioannina, Patras and Crete.

NTT’s investments in the country are estimated to reach 25 million euros by 2026. As Mr. Konstantinis mentioned, among other things, Greece “has also entered the Data Center map”, a sector where the Group is actively active.

NTT DATA – part of the NTT Group – is an innovative multinational information technology services and consulting company headquartered in Tokyo, Japan. The NTT Group is a global leader in providing technology and business solutions with revenues of $108 billion and more than 330,000 employees in more than 80 countries and regions, providing services to more than 190. It invests more than $3.6 billion in research and development.
