Prospects for Austrian turkey production

Vienna (OTS) Research has shown that the turkeys from a foreign manufacturer, whose meat is on Austrian supermarket shelves, are treated with so-called “toe trimming”: the chicks’ claws are melted away shortly after hatching so that the animals do not hurt each other. This practice is banned in Austria – but this meat still ends up in our supermarket.
