  • 97% Bahrainization rate in the company and 100% Bahrainization in the hatchery

  • With the aim of achieving self-sufficiency, there are currently no plans to export products to foreign markets

  • We are proud to be a national company working hand in hand with the esteemed government within “Vision 2030”

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delmon Poultry Company, Abdul Rahman Jamsheer, praised the efforts of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its work hand in hand with national companies, in order to serve the work of accelerating the achievement of the economic vision of the Kingdom of Bahrain 2030, and keeping pace with major developed countries at all levels and in all fields.
This came in Al-Bilad’s interview with Jamsheer, in which he revealed the replacement of the company’s old hatchery, which continued to operate with excellent efficiency thanks to its regular maintenance for nearly 32 years, and the inauguration of a completely new one at a total cost of approximately two million Bahraini dinars.
Regarding the new hatchery project, Abdul Rahman Jamsheer said, “The new hatchery project is one of the important pioneering and strategic projects that was on the list of Delmon Poultry Company’s plans, as we are a national company that works hand in hand with the esteemed government and all relevant parties to contribute to achieving food security in the Kingdom of Bahrain. And to achieve self-sufficiency, we created a time plan to implement development projects in the company, the most prominent of which was the establishment of the new hatchery, which would contribute to increasing the company’s production capacity.”

Regarding the most prominent features of the new hatchery, Jamsheer said, “The work to complete the new hatchery and make it ready took about two years of diligent and continuous work, and the most prominent feature that distinguishes the new hatchery from the old one is that it is higher in terms of production, and larger in terms of area, as its area reaches 10,000 square meters compared to the old one.” Which had an area of 5,000 square metres. As for the production capacity, the production capacity of the old hatchery was up to 9 million chicks per year, while production in the new hatchery reaches 12 million chicks per year, for the first phase of operation, and therefore the size of the increase will reach To 3 million chicks annually, compared to what it was, and we hope to increase production capacity to 14 million chicks annually if the need arises.”

Advanced technologies

In the same context, Jamsheer stressed that Delmon Poultry Company was keen to bring the latest globally advanced technologies into the company’s new hatchery, in cooperation with the Belgian company Peter Sam, one of the largest global companies leading in the manufacture of poultry hatcheries in the world, noting that one of the most modern and advanced systems The advanced technology that was developed in the new hatchery is a technological system called “Hawk Eye,” which is the most recently used in hatcheries around the world. He explained that the Falcon Eye technological system is a smart device that is placed with the eggs and works to give control signals to the hatching incubators, such as adjusting the temperatures. And humidity, and the percentage of oxygen in the nursery without human intervention from the first day until the day of hatching, stressing that this technology would maintain a healthy hatching process at high rates, and thus better quality chicks, indicating that with these modern technological techniques we will obtain better rates in terms of Hatching and more numbers of chicks. For example, if we previously imported a million hatching eggs, it is possible, with old techniques, to obtain approximately 850,000 chicks, equivalent to 85% of the total imported eggs, while these modern techniques will enable us to obtain More than 900 thousand chicks out of a total of one million imported eggs, due to the use of the “Hawk Eye” technological system, with which there will be no need for human intervention in controlling the appropriate atmosphere for the hatching incubators in terms of adjusting temperatures and other things. Because thanks to this innovative technology, the atmosphere will always be precisely appropriate, noting that the old hatchery incubators operated with the “Multi Stage” system, meaning that one incubator includes eggs of several ages, and therefore the incubator is exposed to human intervention, as it is opened and closed several times to adjust the degrees. Temperature, oxygen level, humidity, and other conditions that create the appropriate environment for hatching, which causes us to lose some eggs as a result of repeated opening and closing, while in the new hatchery, we made sure that the incubator contains eggs of one age, which is known as the “Single Stage.” In order to avoid frequent opening and closing, which brings us high rates of successful hatching, he stressed that this is also reflected in the increase in our supply to the local market of chickens and their parts, as we previously supplied the markets with between 28 thousand chickens and 32 thousand chickens and their parts daily, while we hope Currently, the company’s supply to the markets reaches between 36 thousand and 38 thousand chickens and their parts daily.

Industry challenges

On a related note, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delmon Poultry Company believes that there are many challenges facing the poultry industry, the most prominent of which are logistical operations and urban sprawl on breeding farms, in addition to the availability of suitable lands for raising poultry. In this regard, Jamsheer went on to say, “ There are many challenges, and this is not surprising, as it is the nature of work in any sector, and with regard to the poultry industry, logistical challenges such as shipping operations are a challenge for us. Naturally, the company imports raw materials from Asian countries and the North and South Americas, and therefore these import operations require shipping operations in quantities. Great, sometimes we face challenges and difficulties in these operations, so we had to develop solutions to this challenge, the most important of which was to ensure that we maintain sufficient stock for a long period, so that it fills any need in this area, and there is no significant impact on our supplies to the markets.
This is in addition to the availability of suitable lands for raising poultry, as Jamsheer pointed out that the hatchery in the poultry industry is only the first stage, after which the stages progress, so comes the stage of sending the chicks to the farms to be raised to be chickens and then returns to the chicken slaughterhouse to be distributed to the markets, and with these stages The importance of the availability of suitable lands for raising poultry lies in the fact that the carrying capacity of these lands currently reaches about 9-10 million birds, indicating that the company hopes to increase these numbers to reach approximately 14 million birds, while this depends on what is done. Providing us with suitable and necessary land to raise these numbers, in cooperation with the esteemed government of the Kingdom of Bahrain in this aspect, and if these lands are provided, the company will increase the hatchery’s production capacity, stressing in this context that the company is currently cooperating with approximately 18 farms in All over the Kingdom of Bahrain for the chicken raising process.
Regarding the advantages of land suitable for raising poultry, Abdul Rahman Jamsheer stressed that it must be classified as agricultural and qualified for animal production according to the requirements of the competent authorities, in addition to its economic feasibility in terms of rental prices, as according to this classification it is different from the commercial, construction sector, factories and other sectors, so it is With the increase in the cost of rents for agricultural lands, the cost will undoubtedly increase in the price of the final product, and accordingly, in order for there to be competitiveness, we are talking about lands for raising broiler chickens with an economic feasibility suitable for everyone.

In a related matter, and with regard to the company’s directions and aspirations to export its products to foreign markets, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delmon Poultry Company stated that Delmon Poultry Company is a Bahraini joint stock company established in the year 1980 pursuant to Emiri Decree No. 2 of 1980, and the government of the Kingdom of Bahrain had a fundamental role in formulating the idea It was established, and accordingly, in line with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Great King of the country, may God protect and preserve him, investment is being directed to provide food security and self-sufficiency for the citizens of the Kingdom of Bahrain at the present time.
Regarding the workforce that Delmon Poultry Company attracts, Jamsheer expressed the company’s pride in the percentage of qualified and trained national workers working under the company’s umbrella, stressing that the company is proud of its national human cadres and its experience that extends for more than 40 years. He said, “We are proud to have reached the percentage Bahrainization reaches 97%, due to the keenness of the company’s Board of Directors and its executive management to Bahrainize the company’s functions in all departments and departments. As for the hatchery, the Bahrainization rate reaches 100% of the trained and qualified workforce, indicating that these percentages include both male and female genders. And females, which indicates that Bahrainis always have priority in the company, as it is a national company and he is our first choice, noting that the employment rate in the past five years has increased from 185 employees to 220 employees in various departments and departments, and that in the company in general.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Delmon Poultry Company, Abdul Rahman Jamsheer, concluded his conversation with Al-Bilad by stressing the company’s keenness to continue developing its production activities and operations, targeting Bahraini national cadres, and developing the necessary strategies and plans to qualify these national cadres, in line with the development of the global poultry industry.
