Vienna (OTS) – The tropical giant tick is here to stay. Less new, but all the more problematic, is the “common wooden goat”, the carrier of TBE. Every year, more than 100 people still become so seriously ill with TBE that they have to be hospitalized. Some even suffer permanent damage. The problem: There is no causal therapy for TBE. What does exist is an effective vaccination, but many do not refresh it in a timely manner.
At the hybrid press conference on March 13, 2024, experts will therefore discuss:
- what danger the tropical giant tick currently poses in Austria
- what special features of the common wooden beetle you should know
- what neurological sequelae can result from TBE and
- how you can best protect yourself from TBE.
