Postponement of today’s vote underlines concern for Europe as an industrial location – excessive bureaucracy for European companies must be prevented

Vienna (OTS) With the postponement of today’s vote in the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU Member States, the concerns of European business and industry were fortunately taken seriously. The current draft of the EU Supply Chain Directive threatens to become a bureaucratic monster in its current form. From the perspective of the Industrial Association (IV), the directive in its current form is simply not implementable for companies. The associated control obligations across the entire value chain are beyond any entrepreneurial reality. The intended legal consequences are disproportionate and create excessive bureaucracy. This also confirms the position of the German and Austrian federal governments that they cannot agree to the current draft directive.
