Former Minister of Justice Judit Varga gave an exclusive interview to Péter Hajdú. In the preview of the broadcast uploaded to Frizbi TV’s YouTube channel, Varga said that he constantly had to worry about Péter Magyar’s mood and was afraid that the abuse would not end.

A Frisbee with Péter Hajdú in the special edition of the program Judit Varga said that she does not want anyone to have her spouse secretly record her in order to blackmail her. He added that it was not prepared by Péter Magyar for political purposes, but in order to blackmail him.

The former justice minister said that he thinks this whole situation is very humiliating, because he considered himself a serious person.

I am a lawyer. I speak languages and I was proud to represent Hungary in the debates in Brussels, and I always tried to stay away from the tabloids. I absolutely did not want to show people the horrors of my private life, my personal hell.

– said Judit Varga, adding that she undertook this interview in order to protect the integrity and justice of her family.

Judit Varga about Péter Magyar: He constantly blackmailed with the audio recording

After that, he talked about how at first he closely followed Péter Magyar’s public appearances and told how on one occasion his father called him in a state of near death and asked Varga to stop the journalists, because every article about Magyar began with “Judit Varga her ex-husband”, and the parents of the former justice minister were very hurt that their daughter was still associated with Péter Magyar.

According to Judit Varga, she couldn’t do anything about it, and she knew that this was how Magyar gained clicks at the beginning of his fledgling political career. The former minister stressed that Péter Magyar is lying about the “terrible crime” that was a huge pain for his family. And Varga feels that he owes it to his parents and sister to say that Péter Magyar in his private life is not the person he shows himself to the outside world.

Regarding the audio recording made public by Péter Magyar on Tuesday, Judit Varga said that her ex-husband constantly blackmailed her by telling her about what happened at home, even if it was about disciplining their children. According to him, Magyar abused the fact that Varga had to behave in a disciplined manner due to his ministerial status.

He pointed out that when he became a minister, these quarrels took on a strange, surreal atmosphere. He added that at the beginning of their acquaintance, he was impressed by Péter Magyar’s “attractive appearance, his engaging speech, his intelligent sentences, the Petőfi quotes, the appearance of flamboyance”.

He added that he liked all of this because he was also interested in public life, loved history, they went to the museum together, and even protested together against Ferenc Gyurcsány in 2006.

“You are like a one-celled wooden cube”

She pointed out that at the beginning everything seemed so great, they traveled a lot, she received a lot of love letters and poems from Péter Magyar, and later, as their relationship grew more serious, she realized that it was only an appearance. After all, according to him, behind these spectacular gestures is soullessness, a complete lack of empathy and manipulation.

In the interview, Judit Varga also told that the first sign was when her ex-husband told her that you are like a one-celled wooden cube, then it was very bad for her.

According to him

the most painful and cruelest incident was the first really big blow to his heart, when their first child was born,

they took him home from the hospital, and while Judit Varga looked at their child admiringly, she said to her husband, “Péter, look at how beautiful this child is,” Magyar replied to her, “What, you can’t put together a normal Hungarian sentence ? You didn’t attend a grammar class, do you have comprehension problems?”.

Judit Varga also touched on the fact that Magyar also criticized her for often using the expression that she “gifted him with a child”, which, according to her ex-husband, “is a biological fact that she gave birth”.

They almost broke up once

The former minister then talked about how, after constant verbal abuse and criticism, they tried to divorce in 2013 and started on this path, but Péter Magyar begged him to go to couples therapy and they tried to repair their relationship.

According to him, this was a recurring strategy on the part of Péter Magyar: when Varga tried to get out of the relationship, Magyar called him back. She added that this is understandable, since the former minister “gave birth to her three children”, created a home for their family, and created the background in which her ex-husband had only to criticize everything and find fault with everything.

Meanwhile, his friends and family got him the right jobs. Later, when they returned from Brussels and Varga first became state secretary and then minister, Péter Magyar got a job because his wife was in this position. According to her, her ex-husband took advantage of this.

Judit Varga believes that Péter Magyar betrayed not only her, but also Gergely Gulyás, the minister in charge of the Prime Minister’s Office, who was a very close friend of her ex-husband. He pointed out that Magyar Gulyás was “indulging” in Gergelyen because he saw in him that he had political potential and that he was able to gain good opportunities and connections thanks to his friendship with the minister, while constantly criticizing him as Varga.

He recalled that Péter Magyar always said that he was interested in public life from an early age, that he was at the demonstrations, that Ferenc Mádl was his godfather, and Pál Erőss was his grandfather. According to Judit Varga, Magyar also told her this when they met.

In practice, he felt that just because he was born into such a family in Buda, and he had such ancestors and ancestors (…) he has the right as a subject to be somebody in public life

– he said, adding that compared to “normal people”, however, Péter Magyar lacks humility and does not add the necessary work to success.

According to Judit Varga, she cried a lot because of Péter Magyar, who always blamed her for everything and begged her to change her attitude or tell him what was wrong with her. As he said, he tried to ask for help, but he had to realize that a person with narcissistic personality disorder cannot be helped.

The former minister emphasized that when they moved home from Brussels, Péter Magyar criticized him even more and “tried to destabilize him mentally”. He told her things like “you look into the air like a one-celled houseplant” or “you’re sitting there among so many smart people and you don’t even know what’s happening to you.”

“Be smart because you’re dumb”

According to Varga, Péter Magyar couldn’t explain why he treated her like that, and after their divorce he told her to “be smart because you’re stupid.” The former minister knew from this that there was a big problem, because he could be neither smarter nor dumber than what he was born to be, and then he felt that their situation was completely hopeless. Judit Varga moved away then and rested with her parents, and a few months later they got together again.

No one, neither from Fidesz nor from the government, has ever told me what to do in my private life

Judit Varga stated, refuting her ex-husband’s previous claim that they were not allowed to divorce from Karmelita.

In the interview, he also recalled a case when Péter Magyar locked him in a room because he did not want to go with his ex-wife to an event where Varga had to give an opening speech. They were about to leave when Magyar locked him in, and finally one of his sons released him with another key.

According to him, there were so many similar cases that after a while his chief of staff and his personal secretary “developed certain working methods”. Before an important interview, for example, his phone was blocked so that he could not see Magyar’s messages.

When asked why she didn’t get a divorce earlier, she replied “because I’m a fighting type”. As he said, he did not want to experience the failure of not being able to keep the family together, and Magyar “distributed the crumbs of love in an appropriate rhythm”.

When Varga first moved away from her, Magyar wrote her beautiful, handwritten letters, in which she wrote that she knew what she should change and how she should behave in order not to lose her family. He also promised to improve his relationship with his eldest son, who, according to Judit Varga, was also verbally abused by her ex-husband.

Varga said that he constantly had to worry about Péter’s mood.

I was afraid he wouldn’t stop abusing. And Peter came out of the room, went to the kitchen, took out a knife and started walking around the house with a knife in his hand

– he said, adding that his mother also saw all this, who was shaken by this scene. After that, Péter Magyar went to sleep, and in retrospect, Judit Varga thinks that it was all just a show of strength. The former minister also noted that once, when she was pregnant, Magyar pushed her against a door.

According to Varga, when he announced the divorce, Magyar manipulatively began collecting “evidence” with which he could later blackmail him, and often threatened to overthrow the government.

In the interview, he also recalled their argument, about which a police report was also drawn up. He said that after a fight, he wanted to flee to Miskolc to his parents, but Magyar prevented him from doing so. According to Varga, everything happened as it is written in the protocol.

Judit Varga believes that she gave up everything during the divorce, and that she came out of it badly financially, which can be seen in her statement of assets. According to his claim, their situation was so bad at that time that “he would have come in a pair of panties”. She called the fact that her husband showed up with flowers and read a touching letter during the divorce as acting and manipulation. According to him, Magyar wanted to have sentences entered into the minutes that could be used against him later.

Péter Magyar: This is the most disgusting showdown in Hungarian political history

Péter Magyar sent a message to his ex-wife in another Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon. In his post, he wrote, “what is happening now is the most disgusting showdown and character assassination attempt in Hungarian political history, in which nothing is sacred. Nor the former Minister of Justice and his three children”.

According to him, Judit Varga got into a situation “from which she doesn’t see a way out” “with the publication of the audio recording”. Then, in response to the accusations of intimate partner violence brought against him, he wrote: “Who believes that the authorities could not have protected the Minister of Justice from me?”

I am so sorry that you are in this situation. But the stakes are huge. An entire country must be saved now. (…) Know that I will be here for you and the children even when this vile power is nowhere to be found. Be strong, take care!

Péter Magyar concludes his post.
