After the House of Representatives completed its structures by electing the heads of the permanent committees in the session that was held yesterday, Monday, and ended the dispute over the Justice, Legislation and Human Rights Committee, the chairmanship of which was ultimately transferred to the Socialist-Federal Opposition team in the person of Representative Saeed Baziz, the representatives look forward to the resumption of work and the return of the wheel of the committees. To rotate as soon as possible.

According to data obtained by the electronic newspaper Hespress, the heads of the committees are preparing to form the latter’s offices, the representatives who represent their teams in them, and the changes that may affect them.

According to the same data, the heads of the teams, in coordination with the Council Presidency, will choose their representatives in the committee offices, which is the final step that is expected to give the green light for the committees to begin their work.

In this context, Saeed Baziz, Chairman of the Justice, Legislation and Human Rights Committee in the House of Representatives, said: “We are awaiting the formation of the committee’s office in order to begin work and continue the detailed discussion of the draft civil procedure law and the important draft laws that await us.”

Baziz added in a statement to the electronic newspaper Hespress: “We look forward to working in the Justice, Legislation and Human Rights Committee, along with the rest of the members and teams, in order to provide the required addition and improve the texts that the government refers to the legislative institution within the framework of the tasks specified by the constitution.”

He stressed that the committee he heads awaits “major work” in the second half of the legislative term, as the government is expected to refer to it a group of important draft laws, such as the draft criminal code and the draft family code.

For his part, Mohamed Hujaira, Chairman of the Public Finance Oversight Committee, said: “We will begin work next week as quickly as necessary. Because there are files waiting for us.”

Hujaira added, in a statement to the electronic newspaper Hespress, that “it is expected that the Speaker of the House of Representatives will hold a meeting with the heads of the teams to agree on the structure of the committee offices and present their candidates to them.” He stressed that each team will manage this matter separately and is expected to witness some changes.

The same spokesman pointed out that “distributing the members of the parliamentary teams between the committees, and the names that hold membership in the committee offices, is a process that requires discussion within the team, and it is an internal democratic exercise,” pointing out that this matter “will not take a long time.”
