Black and green are driving our health system to the wall

Vienna (OTS) “The chaos surrounding the Lorenz-Böhler accident hospital in Vienna is, on the one hand, a multiple failure in black, red and green. On the other hand, it is another clear indication of how the federal government as a whole is driving our health system against the wall – to the detriment of the health staff, the doctors, of course the patients and all contributors,” said FPÖ federal party chairman Club Chairman NAbg today. Herbert Kickl.

In the Lorenz-Böhler case, the Green Minister of Health obviously did not fulfill his duty to supervise the social insurance provider and the responsible SPÖ city council apparently did not take its cooperation and coordination function seriously. Black and red social security officials as well as black and red AUVA management also made these fatal decisions in the decision-making bodies. “Someone first has to explain why the renovation, the necessity of which cannot have arisen overnight but must have been known for a long time, cannot be carried out with proper planning even during ongoing operations. Trying to evacuate the entire company overnight, to the detriment of the staff, patients and the already not exactly underemployed ‘alternative quarters’ like the AKH, is really a ‘mess’,” says Kickl.

However, the developments surrounding the Lorenz-Böhler accident hospital are also another building block in the overall failure of the black-green health policy and the overall completely twisted handling of contributors’ and taxpayers’ money. Tens of billions of euros were sunk into a Corona regime, the ÖVP and the Greens simply let the healthcare system itself, i.e. infrastructure and staff in the hospitals and ensuring adequate care in the private sector, slide. Kickl recalled the bed closures in the red-pink city of Vienna, the continued flight of doctors and nursing staff from public health care, the continued migration of medical graduates to German-speaking countries or the waiting times for treatments, surgery appointments and the like. At the same time, a medication board will be introduced that will decide on the use of certain medications from the “green table,” which could take weeks or months – to the detriment of the health situation of the patient concerned. “At the same time, the ÖVP and the Greens are putting prisoners on the same level as private patients – even at the expense of contributors and taxpayers,” criticized Kickl.

“What our health system needs are real structural reforms, fair cooperation with doctors and other employees in the health system. We libertarians have made the relevant suggestions. And what our population as a whole needs is a government whose policies are based on the needs of its own citizens, and which uses taxpayers’ resources for its own people – instead of sending huge amounts of tax money to Ukraine,” emphasized Kickl.
