According to the Times of India, there are many studies that show that regularly eating certain types of meat can increase the risk of diabetes, heart disease and some types of cancer.

Much information suggests that eating too much red and processed meat is harmful to your health because it can increase the risk of heart disease, diabetes and some types of cancer.

Red meat includes pork, beef, veal, lamb and goat

Processed meats include hot dogs, ham, bacon and sausage

Which type of meat is most likely to cause disease?

According to The Conversation, in a review of 37 studies, the authors found only weak evidence linking red meat consumption to heart disease and diabetes.

But for processed meat, for every additional 50g of processed meat consumed per day, the risk of heart disease increases by 26% and the risk of diabetes increases by 44%.

And also the risk of causing cancer

A study of nearly 500,000 people found that each additional 50g of red meat consumed per day increased the risk of colorectal cancer by 18%. And for each additional 25g of processed meat consumed each day, the risk increased by 19%.

So what kind of meat should you eat?

The World Cancer Research Fund recommends eating red meat no more than three times per week and avoiding processed meat as much as possible. Red meat, if eaten in moderation and lean meats are chosen, can be part of a healthy diet.
Even pork should only be eaten 3 times a week.

It’s better to consider replacing red meat with chicken or fish.

Vegetable protein sources such as tofu and beans are also reasonable choices.
