Activists and supporters of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf party protested alleging election rigging. The police have arrested many people.

On Sunday (February 11), they protested in various cities of Pakistan as part of the pre-announced program. Allegations were made of irregularities in the February 8 general elections.

Imran’s supporters started protesting in front of Election Commission office in Siddiqabad, Lahore. At that time, the police used tear gas and batons to disperse them.

Along with several other cities, protests also took place in front of the Election Commission office in Sindh. At that time there was a large police presence.

Clashes broke out between the police and PTI workers and supporters at some places. Several people were arrested.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed the announcement of the final results of the seat where Muslim League leader Nawaz Sharif lost. In the preliminary results, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan lost by a large margin to an independent candidate supported by Imran Khan in the NA-15 Mansehra seat.

Later, the PML-N leader appealed to the ECP to suspend the results. Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer claimed that 125 polling stations were not given Form 45, their polling agents were kicked out and a wrong Form 47 was given. On the whole, Nawaz’s lawyers alleged that the elections in these areas were not transparent.
