Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-12) recovered 442 bottles of Phensidyl from the former MP’s duty-free Pajero car during a raid in the Bangabandhu Setu West area of Sirajganj. At this time, a drug dealer named Sujan Hossain (29) was arrested.
He was arrested along with the duty-free Pajero car of a former member of parliament from the roundabout area of Bangabandhu Bridge West Highway on Saturday (February 10) around 2 pm.
Arrested Sujan is the son of Babul Hossain of Ekhlachpur village of Matlab North police station of Chandpur district. At that time, a Pajero jeep used for transporting drugs, a mobile phone used for buying and selling Phencidil, two SIM cards and cash worth 5 thousand 232 taka were seized.

He said, ‘Based on the information that a late former member of parliament of a special political party going to Dhaka from Bogura was carrying 442 bottles of phensidyl in a duty free Pajero jeep, an raid team of RAB-12 on Saturday around 2 pm on the paved road of roundabout highway under Bangabandhu Setu West police station of Sirajganj district. Put a check post on it. During the check post, a Pajero Jeep (registration number Dhaka Metro-G-02-2915) was seen coming and the vehicle was signaled and stopped. At that time, the accused in the car was arrested. After extensive questioning, the arrested person admitted that Phencidil was hidden inside the oil tank at the back of the Pajero car.’
RAB-12 captain Maruf Hossain said, ‘The arrested drug dealer said during interrogation that for a long time, he had been supplying large consignments of drugs to various districts of the country including Sirajganj district. A case is pending at Bangabandhu Setu West Police Station of Sirajganj district to take legal action against him.
He further said, ‘We have come to know the arrested person in the initial interrogation, apart from him, there are other people involved with him. Apart from this, the person in whose car the drug was being smuggled died. He was an MP of a particular political party. Efforts are on to find out how the car came to the drug dealer and who is involved.’
