BNP distributed leaflets across the country on Tuesday (February 13), the first day of the announced six-day program. The party has called for this program by protesting against the ‘dummy government’s rise in prices, increasing murders, rapes, gas and energy crisis during the dummy elections’. It also calls for ‘democracy and human rights, re-establishment of voting rights as well as safeguarding the independence and sovereignty of the motherland’.
On Tuesday (February 13), the first day of the program, mass communication programs are going on in all major cities of the country including Dhaka. BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed along with leaders of the metropolis participated in the campaign in the capital.
Apart from protesting the increase in the prices of goods, the leaflets also published the price list of daily commodities. Besides criticizing the government, the leaflets addressed to the public said, let us be more united and free ourselves from their misrule, looting, corruption, lawlessness and tyranny by putting an end to the unelected illegitimate government through a democratic movement. Victory in this just war will be ours, God willing.
The leaflet titled ‘Save the People, Save the People’ further mentions that the government, which has committed crimes against humanity and deprived democracy and human rights, has also threatened the independence and sovereignty of the country through knee-jerk foreign policy and complacency to stay in power. Citizens of the country are being killed one after another on unguarded borders. But the kneeling government can’t make any effective protest or resistance.
BNP leaders started campaigning with this leaflet from Tuesday (February 13) morning. Ruhul Kabir Rizvi distributed leaflets with his followers in Fakirapool and Naya Paltan areas and spoke to the media. The Nationalist Fishermen’s Party participated in the campaign at the National Press Club area.
Shayrul Kabir Khan, a member of BNP’s media cell told Bangla Tribune, member secretary of Metropolitan Committee North Aminul Haque distributed leaflets in Ward No. 2 of Pallabi area of the capital on Tuesday afternoon. During this time, the leaders and workers of various organizations of the party, including Pallabi Thana BNP, were present with him. They distributed leaflets to common people, rickshaw, van and various auto drivers, pedestrians, shopkeepers.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the new six-day program of BNP on February 11. These include, ‘Mass communication and leaflets in all major cities of the country including Dhaka on February 13 and 14 and prayers and forgiveness in all mosques of the country after Friday prayers on February 16 in memory of the martyred Bangladeshis in the country bordering India and Myanmar; Mass communication and distribution of leaflets in all district towns on February 17; Mass communication and leaflets will be distributed on February 18 and 19 at all upazila, thana, municipality and union levels.
The Democratic Left Unity, LDP is carrying out leaflet distribution program in coordination with BNP. Democracy Manch, which is associated with the simultaneous movement, is not in this campaign, but the alliance has a program on February 16. Shayrul Kabir Khan said that on Tuesday, the leaders and activists of the Nationalist Labor Party campaigned in Dilkusha area of Motijheel.
On Monday (February 12), an important member of the party’s standing committee mentioned while talking to the Bangla Tribune, ‘BNP will enter the field slowly keeping people’s problems in front. Release of activists for now; The work of bringing the leaders and activists together will continue through general programs including leaflet campaigns. The behavior of the government will also be clear through this.
On December 30, 2022, the first simultaneous program was held. It was a rally. After that, a joint march program led by BNP was held on July 18, 2023 with a one-point demand of ‘re-establishment of a non-partisan neutral government including the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’. From October 29 of the outgoing year, 5 rounds of strikes, 13 rounds of blockades and 13 rounds of mass communication programs were observed. The last black flag march was held on January 30 this year.
At least 39 political parties have been holding programs simultaneously with BNP. These parties and alliances are Democracy Manch (6-party alliance), 12-party alliance, Ganoforum-People’s Party (two-party alliance), Samana Jota (11), Democratic Left Unity (4 parties). BNP, LDP, People’s Rights Council and Bangladesh Labor Party have done it alone.
