Sadia Islam won the award by performing Portuguese dance. He performed this dance in a ceremony recently organized on the occasion of International Mother Language Day in Porto, Portugal.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of intercultural awards. Sadia Islam and Saiful Islam Ivan were awarded for their special contribution in dance.
They have been working for a long time to highlight the culture of Bangladesh in different European countries. In particular, their contribution to the development of indigenous culture in Portugal is highly commendable.
Wreath laying at Shaheed Minar, Screening of Ritvik Ghatak’s movie ‘Titas a Nadi Naam’, presentation of Intercultural Award-23 and cultural programs were organized at Batalha Centro de Cinema Portugal. The event was jointly organized by Portuguese social organization Aspaco-T Association, Bangladesh Community of Porto and Batalha Centro de Cinema Portugal.
The event was also part of the 30th anniversary celebration of Aspaco-T, a well-known Portuguese organization working on social and communal integration.
Sadia Islam said about receiving awards and honors, ‘Any recognition gives motivation to work and also increases responsibility. And there is a different feeling of being recognized on foreign soil. I want to highlight the native culture very strongly on foreign soil.’

Bangladesh Embassy Ambassador Regina Ahmed, First Secretary, President of Bangladesh Community of Porto Shah Alam Kajal, General Secretary Md. Many dignitaries including Abdul Alim.
Sadia Islam has been fond of dance since childhood. Along with his professional career in Portugal, he continued to practice dance. Sadia got quite popular in Europe by teaming up with Ivan.
