Austria, a country of tourism, is even more strongly represented at this year’s ITB in Berlin, which is taking place for the second time as a purely B2B trade fair. At the Austria stand, a total of 64 tourism partners will present the multifaceted nature of Austria as a holiday destination to trade fair visitors from all over the world. This year’s country partner is SalzburgerLand Tourismus. New: The Austrian Leading Sights, which are represented with 27 top sights and thus ensure a strong cultural focus at the stand.

“As a popular holiday destination, Austria has been successfully relying on quality for years. In addition, Austria has the ambitious goal of being one of the most sustainable tourism destinations in the world and is now at the forefront of the international stage. Austria’s presence at the ITB, the largest tourism trade fair in the most important home market of Germany, is more than ever of immense importance. Even in times of digitalization, domestic tourism continues to thrive primarily on authentic connections, personal contacts and direct exchange,” said Tourism State Secretary Susanne Kraus-Winkler.

Austria’s appearance at the ITB: surprising, courageous and with a wink

“Immerse yourself and experience Austria in all its facets – that’s what our visitors can do at the new Austria stand at the ITB. “It was very important to us this year to appear even more powerful together with the entire industry,” says Astrid Steharnig-Staudinger, Managing Director of Austria Advertising (ÖW). “The new communication line, which we are presenting for the first time in Berlin, is intended to stand out and show genuine feelings beyond the typical advertising clichés.”

The newly designed Austria stand in Hub 27, stand number 106 offers a total of 750 square meters of space for exhibitors to present their products to buyers from all over the world and initiate new business. In addition, the new, innovative stand concept will make the multifaceted nature of Austria tangible and tangible for visitors.

A highlight of this year’s ITB appearance will be the presentation of Austria Advertising’s new communication line, which will be introduced to visitors through the Austria stand itself, authentic imagery and a production as part of the evening event. Selected ambassadors from Austria are also symbolic of the new line of communication: star designer Lena Hoschek and Father Ludwig Wenzl from Melk Abbey will be there, among others, and will present what Austria as a holiday destination means to them.

Country partner SalzburgerLand: Winter tourism and FIS Alpine Ski World Cup 2025 in focus

In addition to eight state tourism organizations and the Austrian Leading Sights, Austria will be presented at the ITB in 2024 by a diverse range of exhibitors. This year’s federal state and culinary partner for the Austria stand is SalzburgerLand and is focusing on the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships 2025 in Saalbach Hinterglemm, which will attract great international attention in the coming year. Guests at the stand are treated to culinary delights with specialties from Salzburg, prepared by the Austrian star chef Franz Raneburger and his event catering company “Edelweiß”. The young team from the Salzburg tourism schools will shine with the internationally valued Austrian hospitality and service quality.

“The focus of our presentation is our winter sports expertise and the FIS Alpine Ski World Championships 2025 in Saalbach as a top sporting event that is recognized worldwide,” says Leo Bauernberger, Managing Director of the SalzburgerLand Tourismus Gesellschaft. “We bridge the gap between great sport and our world-class cultural offerings and, together with the Salzburg State Theater, provide a first exclusive insight into the musical ‘Skiverliebt’, which will premiere around the World Cup. On site we spoil our guests with high-quality regional dishes from Alpine cuisine.”

Austrian Leading Sights: Part of the Austrian presence in Berlin for the first time

For the first time since its founding in 2019, the Austrian Leading Sights association is also part of the Austrian stand at the ITB this year. A total of 27 cultural companies from all over Austria are on site and are sending a strong signal for local cultural tourism.

“It fills us with pride that we will be represented at the ITB with such an impressive presence on our second trade fair appearance!” says the president of the association Klaus Panholzer about the numerous registrations. “Our members and partners represent Austria’s cultural heritage, natural wonders and innovative cultural offerings. We are looking forward to being represented at the Austria Advertising stand this year and to being able to present the diversity of Austria to a broad audience.”
