The activities of the Saudi Film Nights “in its second edition” will begin today in Casablanca and Rabat, organized by the Saudi Film Authority, by presenting distinguished cinematic performances and continuing until April 26, at the Megarama Cinema.
During the “Saudi Film Nights” activities, a selection of feature films and short films will be shown, in addition to holding meetings and open discussion sessions in the form of questions and answers with the teams of the films being shown.
A group of Moroccan film critics were chosen for this artistic event, including Saeed Al-Mazouari and Bilal Mermaid, to chair the selection committee and hold meetings and open dialogue sessions with film teams and makers, as well as choosing the best Saudi productions that will be shown on Moroccan cinema screens.
In this context, Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Qahtani, Director General of the Saudi Film Authority, said, in his words, “The Saudi Film Nights activities reflect our commitment to promoting cinematic culture in the Kingdom, and also highlight the promising potential of Saudi films in attracting international audiences this year. We seek to expand the circle of influence of the cinematic event, by presenting it in other countries around the world, with the aim of supporting local talent and increasing the status of Saudi film production on the international level.
For his part, Saeed Al-Muzawari explained that contemporary Saudi production has witnessed remarkable growth and tangible vitality, and these films that will be shown give a glimpse of the objective vitality and creativity of young directors to represent the challenges of a renewed society.
It should be noted that the aforementioned cultural event will showcase more than 20 Saudi films starting from Morocco, all the way to Australia, China and India, concluding its tour in Mexico, on January 2025.
