The Saudi Film Commission announced the launch of the “Saudi Film Nights” activities in its second edition in 5 countries around the world, as it will begin its global tour from Morocco, by presenting cinematic screenings in the cities of Casablanca and Rabat, during the period extending from April 23 to 26. , at Megarama Cinema.

According to a report received by Hespress, Moroccan film critics Bilal Mermid and Said Al-Mezouari were chosen to head the selection committee in order to select the best Saudi productions that will be shown within the activities of the demonstration, in addition to holding meetings and open discussion sessions in the form of questions and answers with the teams and makers of the films shown. The latter will constitute an opportunity to create a rich meeting with filmmakers, academics, students and critics in an atmosphere that enables the public to discover the first performances of the Seventh Saudi Art, works that competed in many regional and international festivals.

In this regard, Saeed Al-Muzawari said that Saudi cinematic production has witnessed remarkable growth and tangible vitality, adding that these films that will be shown give a glimpse of the objective vitality and creativity of young directors to represent the challenges of a renewed society.

For his part, Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Qahtani, Director General of the Saudi Film Authority, said, citing the same communiqué, that the activities of this demonstration reflect their commitment to promoting cinematic culture in the Kingdom and highlighting the promising potential of Saudi films in attracting international audiences, adding that this year they seek to Expanding the circle of influence of the cinematic event, by presenting it in other countries around the world, with the aim of supporting local talent and increasing the status of Saudi cinematic production on the international level.”

Cinema lovers in Morocco will have a date with the discovery of two feature films; They are “Al-Hamoor H.A.” by Abdul-Ala Al-Qurashi and “Hajan” by director Abu Bakr Shawqi. The program will also include the screening of 3 short films: “Aidros and I” by Sarah Belghoneim, and “An Old Phone Number” by Ali Saeed.

It is worth noting that this global tour will start in Morocco, and then move to Australia, then China and India, concluding its trip in Mexico during January of next year. The event will include the screening of more than 20 Saudi films.
