Israeli raids continue on several sites in southern Lebanon. The Lebanese National News Agency confirmed today, Saturday, that an Israeli raid targeted the town of Ramia in the south of the country.

Targeting residential neighborhoods

The agency added that heavy artillery shelling targeted residential neighborhoods in the town of Aita al-Shaab, and the southwestern neighborhoods of the town of Mays al-Jabal.

Israel had carried out a strike targeting a car in the Naqoura area, which is considered an important location for the United Nations peacekeeping forces (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon.

Assassination of 3 Hezbollah members

Al-Arabiya/Al-Hadath correspondent reported earlier today, Saturday, that information indicates the assassination of 3 Hezbollah members, including an important technical leader, who were all in that car.

He also added that a completely burned body arrived at a nearby hospital, in addition to two other dead.

He later explained that Hezbollah announced the killing of a “technical leader specialized in military operations” in that Naqoura raid, while Lebanese security sources revealed that the strike was carried out by a drone, adding that among the three dead was a “weapons technician,” according to what Reuters reported.

The confrontation expands

During the past few days and weeks, Israel expanded the scope of the confrontations, as its strikes affected towns outside the border strip, and reached areas close to Sidon, in breach of the rules of engagement that had remained in place since last October, shortly after the outbreak of war in the Gaza Strip.

It also targeted more than once cars carrying Hezbollah members and officials in southern Lebanon, and assassinated some of its senior field officers responsible for either launching missiles or marches.

It also monitored the party inside Syrian territory as well, where it carried out more than 19 strikes since the beginning of this year, 2024.

Since the start of the confrontations between the Israeli side and the Iranian-backed Hezbollah, Israeli raids have killed more than 200 Hezbollah members and about 50 civilians.

Meanwhile, attacks from the Lebanese border on Israel led to the killing of 12 Israeli soldiers and five civilians, and tens of thousands of Israelis and Lebanese fled from villages on both sides of the border, according to Reuters.

While international efforts are intensifying, especially French and American, in order to curb the confrontations and prevent the outbreak of a broader comprehensive war between the two parties, and to reach a settlement that may push Hezbollah back out of the regions of southern Lebanon.
