His Highness Sheikh Isa bin Ali Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs and Vice President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, witnessed the opening ceremony of the first Gulf Youth Games, which was held today, Tuesday, at the Dubai Opera in the United Arab Emirates, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council. His Excellency Jassim Mohammed Al Budawi, Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the session, and a number of ambassadors, public and sports figures, presidents, deputies and representatives of the Gulf Olympic Committees.

The ceremony began with the playing of the UAE’s national anthem, then the flag of the Gulf Cooperation Council was carried on the main stage of the ceremony, followed by a parade of flags of the participating Gulf countries, then the performance of the tournament oath by athletes, coaches and referees, before the start of the various artistic performances.

The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain participated in the parade queue for the participating countries, and the table tennis team player, Dana Mohammed Al-Khayyat, was honored to carry the flag. Our national teams of the Kingdom of Bahrain, participating in the sixth day’s competitions of the first Gulf Youth Games held in the United Arab Emirates, raised their tally of colored medals during their participation in the team and individual games, with a total of 35 colored medals, including (9 gold, 11 silver, and 14 bronze).

In the first appearance, the cycling team, during the start of its journey in the youth category, consisting of the three players Ahmed Mohamed, Mahdi Hassan and Mohamed Thamer, succeeded in achieving the bronze medal in the team time trial competition, after covering a distance of (40) kilometers in a time of (53:17). ) minute.

The first race, which was held on the Abu Dhabi Cycling Club track, witnessed intense competition between the other teams, despite the hot weather in the capital, Abu Dhabi. Our riders were able to compete until the last breath, achieving the third place medal, to be added to the collection of colorful medals.

The participation of our national teams will be renewed tomorrow, Wednesday, in the Gulf Youth Games competitions after the competitions stopped due to holding the official opening ceremony, as the stars of our volleyball team resume their journey in competition when they meet their counterpart, the UAE national team, at two o’clock in the afternoon, Kingdom of Bahrain time, in the Al Nasr Club hall in the Emirate of Dubai. Through its outstanding performance, the plane red seeks to continue achieving its fourth victory in a row, after achieving its exciting victory in the last round over the Saudi green with a score of (3/2), especially since today’s victory over the Emirates boosts its average score to 11 points, keeping it at the top of the competition and getting closer. The organizing committee for the first Gulf Games in the Emirates nominated the Vice President of the Bahrain Triathlon Federation and international referee, Abbas Buhassan, to participate in managing the triathlon races, given the great experience that Buhassan enjoys in managing various international and regional championships.
