The management of the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival revealed a poster for its eighth session, which will be held from April 20 to 25, designed by artist Hisham Ali.

Commenting on the status of women as an icon for the eighth session of the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival, the poster designer, artist Hisham Ali, said: “Women always represent the candle that burns for others, and in our design for this year’s Aswan Festival poster, burning does not mean annihilation, but rather it means renewal and life, so women’s sacrifice conveys Darkness turns into light and makes the impossible possible, and from its light emerges the candle flame, which (in the same context) represents the number of the eighth cycle in the Arabic language, confirming that women in our Arab culture are closer to this giving.

The composition that dominates Hisham’s design is a composition with multiple vital points. The woman who represents the thread of flame stands in a position closer to ancient Egyptian statues, steadfast and majestic, representing the reservations of the Arab conscience. However, at the same time, she is a woman who does not belong to a specific gender, but rather represents all the women of the world. The platform has been transformed. Above which stands the body of the candle, with holes cut into the film roll. Likewise, the third dot represents the date of the eighth session, the place of signing. By the same logic of sacrifice, the date of the event becomes the signature of the festival poster and the sign that expresses everyone.

Hisham Ali is a visual artist who uses images in graphic design. He has won many awards and worked on many international artistic campaigns and projects.

It is noteworthy that the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the National Council for Women, the Aswan Governorate, and the Ministry of Tourism, and in partnership with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, the European Union, the Drosos Authority, the Act World Star Foundation, the Film Syndicate, and the National Cinema Center.
