Preliminary investigation results showed that the cause of the fire that killed 15 people and injured 44 people was due to a fire that broke out on the first floor of the building, where there were electric bicycles.
At least 15 people were killed and 44 injured in a fire that occurred on February 23 in a building in Nanjing city, capital of Jiangsu province, Eastern China.
The city government confirmed that early on the morning of February 23, the fire department received an emergency call reporting a fire at the above residential building in Vu Hoa Dai district.
Firefighters extinguished the fire around 6am. Search and rescue operations at the scene were carried out afterward and ended at 2:00 p.m. the same day. 44 injured people were taken to the hospital.
Preliminary investigation results show that the fire broke out on the first floor of the building, where electric bicycles are located.
Authorities are currently expanding their investigation into the cause of the fire.
