A total of 56 people, including women, have been arrested so far in connection with bank robberies in Ruma and Thanchi of Bandarban. All of them are members of the armed group Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), police said.
On Monday (April 8) around 7:30 pm, the arrested 49 people were brought to Bandarban Sadar Police Station in three buses. Earlier, they were arrested from Bethel Para of Ruma Upazila in a joint operation.
During the operation, seven country guns, 20 rounds of bullets, KNF uniform, laptop used in terrorist activities, two pairs of boots, a knife and various tools were recovered from them.

District Additional Superintendent of Police Hossain confirmed this information. Raihan Kazemi said that 49 people have been arrested in connection with the attack in Ruma and Thanchi.
Earlier, Chief Coordinator of KNF Cheosim Bom (55) was arrested from Sharan Para in Sadar. He is the son of deceased Rowal Khoo Bom of Sharon Para area of Ward No. 6 of Sualak Union of Bandarban Sadar Upazila.
In a press conference on Sunday (April 7), RAB said that an organization called the Kuki-China National Development Organization was formed in Bandarban. From where the journey started, KNF gradually reached its present state. The founding coordinator of that organization was Chaosim Bom. Nathan Bom and militant leader Shamim Mahfuz signed an agreement for militant training at his house. Besides, he had been collecting money for KNF for a long time.
Last April 2 and 3 in Ruma and Thanchi, KNF looted banks and looted 14 weapons of law and order forces. Eight cases have been filed so far in this incident. Among them four in Ruma and four in Thanchi.
