Vienna Royal Philharmonic Cultural Association organizes a series of concerts in 21 districts of Vienna
Vienna (OTS) – The official start of the concert series will take place for the first time on April 28, 2024 1. Vienna Holocaust Memorial Concerts. The opening concert will take place at Memorial for the Austrian victims of the Shoah at Judenplatz at 2 p.m. This will lay the foundation for a total of 21 memorial concerts that will take place from April 13th to June 8th, 2024 at Holocaust remembrance sites in Vienna in 21 districts. The memorial speech at the opening will be given by Thomas Stern, member of the Board of Trustees of the National Fund of the Republic of Austria for Victims of National Socialism.
“Our goal as the Vienna Royal Philharmonic Cultural Association is to preserve the memory of the victims of National Socialism by remembering the most terrible times of the 20th century,” says Peter Illavsky, artistic director of the Vienna Royal Philharmonic Cultural Association and organizer of the entire concert series . “It is important to draw lessons from the past and also consciously deal with discriminatory and anti-Semitic tendencies in society in the here and now.” By reconstructing and performing the music of expelled composers, not only should their artistic creations be brought back into the light of day, but also a symbol of reconciliation and cultural understanding.
