President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky hopes that the US Congress will make a positive decision on further assistance to Ukraine. He said this during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin, which was broadcast live.
Zelensky was asked if Germany and European countries could fill the gap that would be created by the US if they stopped providing aid.
“I expect that the USA will not stop providing aid. I think that the majority of the population supports Ukraine, and quite rightly so, understanding that we defend not only Ukraine, but the whole of Europe and our common values. Anyway, I constantly receive such signals from the president and his administration and representatives of both parties,” said Zelensky.
According to him, there are radical politicians in the USA, but Zelensky hopes that the country will find a “pragmatic American approach” to protect the security of the world.
