“You’ll never find a car like this again”: new Tesla goes to 100 km/h in one second, with the help of rocket engines

Elon Musk has speculated a lot on X (formerly Twitter) about the new Tesla Roadster that should be available by 2025. The car would reach a speed of 0 to almost 100 per hour… in just one second.

The first version of the Roadster was already presented in 2017, when Musk talked about a time of 1.9 seconds to reach almost 100 kilometers per hour from a standstill. Tesla’s owner postponed the actual launch on the market several times. In the meantime, the car’s specifications were adjusted, including the acceleration. The time was almost halved, to one second.

That extremely fast acceleration will not be possible with a standard engine. Musk announced that rocket engines from his other company SpaceX will likely be used to give the car this rapid acceleration. By the way, those rocket engines will not emit flames, but cold air under high pressure.

Musk already knows how to drive a lot of people crazy on his own X account. For example, he says that the fast acceleration time is “the least interesting thing” and that “there will never be another car like this, if you can even call it a car”. He does not say which specifications will be even more spectacular apart from the remarkably fast acceleration. The new introduction of the Roadster will most likely take place at the end of this year, with the actual market launch next year. That is, if that launch isn’t postponed again.
