Cameron Brink is one of the biggest promises in American basketball. The power-forward of Stanford College was selected tonight (between Monday and Tuesday) in second place in the WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks, right after the first and expected selection of the star Caitlin Clark by Indiana Faber.
Brink (1.93) is considered an excellent defensive player, who was chosen this season as the best defensive player in the college league. She finished her fourth and final season in a Stanford uniform with averages of 17.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and the most impressive 3.7 blocks per game.
In March, Brink announced her candidacy for the WNBA draft. She soon received two endorsement videos from NBA star brothers Steph and Seth Curry. “They were really excited,” Brink told People magazine about the Kerry brothers, whom she has known all her life. “Steph made this funny video, which I’m laughing about because my parents showed me before they put it on ESPN. The unique family bond between Brink and the Kerry brothers was created by their parents. Brink’s mother, Michelle Bain-Brink, was roommates with Kerry’s mother, Sonia at Virginia Tech and the two played together on the college’s volleyball team. While their future husbands Del Kerry and Greg Brink were both basketball players at the same college.
The bond formed between the two families continued to tighten when their children were born. Cameron’s godparents are Del and Sonia Curry, the parents of NBA star Steph and Seth Curry. At the same time Michelle is Brink’s mother, she is Steph and Seth’s godmother.
The 22-year-old Brink started playing basketball only at the age of ten. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a US volleyball player, after seeing her win gold at the London Olympics. She did this, of course, in the home of the Kerry family, who at the time raised two basketball players.
From a young age, families spend time together during the summer. Among the brothers, a very rumored connection was formed between Steph and Cameron. During the NBA offseason Cameron joins training with Steph who helps her improve parts of her game. His support does not end here, as from the very beginning of her journey he would come to support her during her high school and college games at Stanford.

The Brink family came to the US to celebrate with Steph the birth of his eldest daughter Riley and during the stay in Charlotte, Michelle finally managed to convince Cameron to go to camp. “You can’t just sit here by the pool all week,” Michelle told Cameron. “You have to be active” .

Brink continued to excel in basketball and volleyball at the same time and even won the Oregon State Volleyball Championship with her high school. She received an invitation to continue her dual career in college, but chose to go to the powerful Stanford to focus on basketball. She was selected by ESPN as the third-best player in the 2020 college league draft.

Already in her first year in college uniform, she played a significant part in Stanford winning the College League. Brink continued to improve and excel and was named three-time PAC 12 League Defensive Player of the Year and two-time Player of the Year (2022, 2024). Last year she was invited to the USA team in 3 on 3, led the team to win the world championship and was chosen as the outstanding player of the tournament.
