Candidates supported by Imran Khan’s party Tehreek-e-Insaf (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf) have shown great success in Pakistan’s general elections. According to the results declared so far, PTI supporters have won 102 seats. PML-N Nawaz won 73 seats. On the other hand Pakistan Muslim League (Pakistan Muslim League) got 54 seats. Others won 20 seats. Now the question arises since PTI could not get elected as a party, then will they be able to form the government? Is there any way open for them?

PTI leader Gahar Ali Khan claimed that they had won 170 seats before rigging. They will take legal action where irregularities have occurred.

On the other hand, PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif announced that they have won this election as a party. In other words, no party has got so many seats. A day after his such comments, Gahar Khan said this.

If reality is accepted then Nawaz Sharif’s claim is correct. Because those who supported Imran had to lose the iconic bat symbol and participate as independent candidates.

The total number of seats in the National Assembly of Pakistan is 266. However, total seats are 336 including 70 reserved. In total, 169 seats are required to form the government. But complications have arisen as no party has secured a single majority. It is necessary to form an alliance. Although there is no such complication in forming alliances between political parties, the problem is with the independents.

Ahmed Bilal Mehbub, president of Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency (PILDAT) answered several questions in such a complex situation. He said that Imran’s supporters are not in a position to form the government alone in the published results. As a result, they have to form an alliance with a big party like PML-N or PPP.

Asked what would happen if the independent candidates rejoined the PTI within three days, he said it was a long process. Because independent candidates must have the symbol of the party they want to join. Which is currently not in Imran’s party.

If these candidates want to go to Imran’s party then inter-party elections of Tehreek-e-Insaf should be held first. Then any party symbols must be recovered through the Commission.

PTI will also get reserved seats if this process is completed. The PILDAT chief also commented that the conditions for getting symbols have been explained in Rule No. 94 of the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Regarding joining other parties, Ahmed Bilal Mehbub said, Independents can join MWM or any party participating in the elections.

If Imranists follow this path, they should follow the rules of the party they will join. In this case they will get reserved seats at proportional rate. As a result, they can get 25 to 27 seats out of 70 reserved seats according to the current results.

Independents have to submit an affidavit to Election Commission that we are joining MWM to ensure reserved seats.

Later the party chief will inform the Election Commission that we are accepting independent candidates. However, this process must be completed within three days of the announcement of the final results of the Election Commission.

If independents join PMW, can the party form the government? In response to such a question, Mehbub said that a party or alliance must get at least 169 seats to form the government and get the prime minister.

But how will the Imran panthi alliance manage or get this necessary seat? In response to such questions, this analyst said, if no party can touch the magic figure 169 in the first round, then in the next round, the party or coalition that will have the majority will be able to form the government and elect the prime minister.

But if the independent candidates supported by Imran do not go to a party, they will join together? In response to such a question, Mehbub said that in this case they will not get any reserved seats. Even if they do not get any reserved seats, they can remain in the opposition. In this case, they have to nominate one person and send a letter to the Speaker of the National Assembly.
