The new Prime Minister of Azerbaijan will be appointed today.
Publika.az It is reported that the issue of giving consent to the appointment of Ali Asadov as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan was included in the agenda of today’s meeting of the Milli Majlis.
It should be noted that the Cabinet of Ministers resigned in accordance with the law after the inauguration of the re-elected President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on February 14.
According to Article 118 of the Constitution, the Prime Minister is appointed by the President with the approval of the Milli Majlis. The proposal for candidacy for the post of Prime Minister shall be submitted to the Milli Mejlis for discussion by the President within one month from the day of the commencement of his duties or two weeks from the day of resignation of the Cabinet of Ministers. The Milli Majlis adopts the decision on the candidacy for the post of Prime Minister not later than one week from the day of submission of that candidacy. If the specified rule is violated or if the candidates presented by the President are not approved three times for the appointment of the Prime Minister, the President can appoint the Prime Minister without the consent of the Milli Majlis.
