WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature Favorites tab for Android that will allow users to set speed dial of contacts for easy access. The new Favorites feature will let users add, reorder, or delete contacts in a specific order. The said feature was spotted in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android. This feature is not available to beta testers at this time. However, it is expected to be rolled out in one of the upcoming updates.
According to a new report from WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on integrating a Favorites tab within the Settings menu. The Favorites tab was spotted in the WhatsApp beta code for the Android 2.24.7.18 update. Despite being listed in the app’s code, it is not visible to beta users. The report highlights that this feature could not be explored currently due to similar restrictions. The new feature will be placed between the account and privacy options. The new Favorites option includes “Add, Reorder, Delete” details. Upon opening Settings, a new screen mentions, “Make it easier to find the people and groups that matter most on WhatsApp”.
Although not much has been revealed about the feature, it appears that users will be able to add their favorite contacts to create a speed-dial-like interface from which they can instantly send messages to people they care about. Give utmost importance. This feature will be placed under Home Screen > Settings > Favorites.
