The military leader born in 1951 added: “Regarding choosing a coach, I personally think that if you’re slow, you have to be sure, how to select the best coach for Vietnamese football.
Criteria must be consistent with Vietnamese culture, people and sports. That is the most important. Vietnamese players are short, physically weak, and do not kick the ball long. If you hold the ball and kick small, it’s not good because your level is not good, you don’t have the ball and strength.
When the opponent is strong and rushes in, it’s easy to lose the ball. Therefore, our playing style must be flexible, sometimes long and sometimes short, able to adapt to different opponents.”
