Information from Doctor 2 Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy – Deputy Head of the Department of Gastroenterology at Children’s Hospital 2 in Ho Chi Minh City said that this department has received and actively treated PHM patient, male, 14 years old.

The child was hospitalized with fever and diarrhea – was sick for 3 days with symptoms of fever, abdominal pain, and diarrhea with green liquid stools. Test results showed infection. The baby was diagnosed with a bacterial intestinal infection by the doctor and was actively treated with antibiotics and supportive medications. Now after 2 days of treatment, the child’s fever is gone and all symptoms have improved.

On May 4, Associate Professor, Dr. Pham Van Quang – Head of the Poison Resuscitation Department, Children’s Hospital 1 said that on the afternoon of May 3, the hospital’s team of doctors came to Dong Nai Children’s Hospital to support the treatment of pediatric patients. .

Here, 13 children are being treated for poisoning after eating bread in Long Khanh City. Among them, 2 patients have a very severe prognosis, requiring mechanical ventilation, dialysis, vasopressors… and 4 other patients have a severe prognosis.

Regarding two very serious cases, there was a 5 and a half year old child hospitalized in a state of cardiac arrest, respiratory arrest, and severe septic shock. Another child was in severe shock. “Doctors consulted and performed dialysis to try to control the infection. Although the hemodynamics of the two children are temporarily stable, the 5 and a half year old baby’s condition is very critical” – Dr. Quang shared.

Doctor Quang added that on the same morning, after continuing online consultation, the two hospitals agreed to transfer the 5 and a half year old patient to Children’s Hospital 1 for further treatment.

Currently, doctors here are trying to check and re-evaluate the patient’s condition and consult on treatment solutions.

Previously, also related to the above poisoning incident, Children’s Hospital 1 received treatment for a 13-year-old child. After the treatment process, the patient is now stable, alert, and has no fever. Thus, currently, Children’s Hospital 1 is treating 2 pediatric patients.
