The head coach of “Roma” Jose Mourinho made an interesting statement.
Publika.az reports that he shared his memories of Chelsea’s victory over Liverpool in April 2014, which cost the Reds the title:
“We called Brendan Rodgers the ‘Special Two’ (in analogy with Mourinho’s ‘Special One’ – ed.). We were in the semi-finals of the Champions League and drew 0-0 with Atletico in Madrid. Then we played a return game. The game against “Liverpool” was not important for us. Because we could only take second or third place. I wanted to play the game on Friday or Saturday lunchtime, but the Premier League wouldn’t allow it.
We cried and begged, but they said no. So I went there to spoil their celebration. We played like we were going there to win the title. On the street, children were selling t-shirts with Liverpool’s championship on them. They couldn’t do it. That’s why we went there to destroy the celebration of “Liverpool”.
It should be noted that after the defeat of “Liverpool” to “Chelsea”, “Manchester City” took the lead and became the champion.
