Ergott-Badawi: Death of the City of Vienna’s addiction and drug commissioner leaves a gap that cannot be filled
Vienna (OTS) – The Vienna regional office of the Austrian Chamber of Pharmacists reacts with great sadness to the news of Dr. Hans Haltmayer, the former medical director of Vienna Addiction Services and the city’s representative for addiction and drug issues. “Haltmayer was a great person. “Thanks to his immense personal commitment, we succeeded in expanding the necessary care structures for addiction treatment, creating a close-knit interdisciplinary network and setting new treatment standards,” emphasizes Mag. pharm. Susanne Ergott-Badawi, Vice President of the Vienna Chamber of Pharmacists. “Our numerous training events, in particular ‘Opioid Substitution Therapy Made Easy’, were extremely valuable support for Viennese pharmacists in their daily dealings with substitution patients. Haltmayer’s commitment to those suffering from addiction and drugs was “almost inexhaustible,” says Ergott-Badawi.
This is confirmed by the President of the Vienna Chamber of Pharmacists Priv.-Doz. GDR. Philip Saiko. “It was only at the end of 2023 that Haltmayer presented a new project to provide even better care for hepatitis C patients. His tireless work for the benefit of these people was legendary in the truest sense of the word, not to mention his personal commitment.”
“With Hans Haltmayer, we are not only losing a committed expert with the highest level of expertise, but also a person with a friendly, open nature and noble character,” said Ergott-Badawi. “He leaves a gap that cannot be filled. We will never forget Hans.”
