There is tension at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU). The employees have already taken a stand in front of the vice-chancellor’s office to demand the employee policy. The agitators say they have blocked the vice-chancellor.

On Saturday (March 16) they took position in front of the Vice Chancellor’s office from 9 am. There is a ruckus going on there now.

Earlier on March 14, there were two clashes in BSMMU. Two were injured. In such a heated situation, panic prevailed among the general doctors, officers and employees of the university.

However, BSMMU’s media cell termed the issue as a general disturbance.

Meanwhile, an official said on condition of anonymity that there are different syndicates in the university. Problems are increasing in their hearts.

In this regard, employee leader Dipu told Jago News, “We have blocked the vice-chancellor in his room. Want an employee policy like Dhaka University. The current administration has been floundering for the past three years. The tenure of the current vice-chancellor will end on March 28. But he still says – ‘You go to work, I will see’.

Accusing the vice-chancellor of not speaking, he said that the last syndicate meeting was on 20th during the period of this vice-chancellor. It is leading to all illegal activities. Just arguing with our fair claim.

The public relations department of the university claimed that Professor Sharfuddin Ahmed is not blocked. When asked about this, Public Relations Department Subrata Biswas said, there is a confusion. The employees have come up with some demands. But blocked is not correct.

The protestors rejected this demand of the public relations department. They said that the vice chancellor is inside. We have 400-500 employees stationed here. The public relations department is supporting the unethical activities of the VC by eating money.

On the other hand, complaints have been raised that in the last three years, nearly 2,000 edhs have been appointed to various positions including doctors, nurses, and officials without following the rules of the university. BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Sharfuddin Ahmed.

A group of leaders of the University Teachers’ Association and the University Freedom Doctors’ Council (Swachip) objected to this.

In this incident, the current vice-chancellor Dr. When contacted, Sharfuddin Ahmed said, “We were having a meeting of the academic council.” There were some exam results to be published. Meanwhile, some doctors came and said that there is no need for this meeting. In the meantime, I heard some people shouting outside. They want me to do nothing since it’s my last time. I also don’t want to get involved in any kind of trouble at my last time, so I postponed the meeting.
