Bikash will distribute 20,000 copies of the graphic novel ‘Mujib’ to 500 more Bengali and English medium schools across the country to inspire school students with the ideals of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Center for Research and Information (CRI) published graphic novel ‘Mujib’ based on Bangabandhu’s ‘Unfinished Autobiography’. Biswa Sahitya Kendra will help in this distribution program in schools under the sponsorship of Bikash. On March 17 (Sunday), Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth anniversary and National Children’s Day, Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, the founder of the World Literature Center, inaugurated the program by handing over books to school students and representatives in the auditorium of the World Literature Center.

BKAS Chief Executive Officer Kamal Qadir, BKAS Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer Major General Sheikh Md. Monirul Islam (retd), and Director of Biswa Sahitya Kendra Shamim Al Mamun were present on the occasion.

Earlier, Bikash distributed 20,000 copies of the graphic novel ‘Mujib’ to 500 schools across the country on the occasion of the Mujib centenary celebrations and the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence. As the books reach the students of different schools including English medium schools in the remote areas of the country, they get an opportunity to know about Bangabandhu.

Realizing the effectiveness of this program, the initiative has been taken to expand the program to Bengali and English medium schools in different parts of the country in continuation of the previous year. This time 4 sets of 40 books will be given to each selected school. As a result, 40 students will have the opportunity to read the book from the school library at the same time.

The graphic novel ‘Mujib’ describes Bangabandhu’s childhood, adolescence, social and political activities in a format suitable for children and adolescents, combining dialogue, prose and images. The best Bengali of all time, ‘Mujib’ published in ten volumes based on the ‘unfinished autobiography’ of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect of Bangladesh state, will give readers of all ages an opportunity to learn about Bangabandhu.

Professor Abdullah Abu Saeed, the founder of the World Literature Center, said that the state is the biggest dream for a nation. And we got that dream under the leadership of Bangabandhu. He gave the nation a dream of liberation. Bangabandhu has given us this freedom, this opportunity, this immense possibility that we are standing in front of. Bangabandhu’s character, ideals, dreams, passion can be realized through Mujib graphic novel. The boys and girls who read this book will forever dream of doing something great.

Kamal Kadir, Chief Executive Officer of Development, said, “I have realized after reading Bangabandhu’s autobiography that he had great confidence in the Bengali nation that this nation would reach somewhere.” Based on the unfinished autobiography of Bangabandhu, this comic series is published for children and teenagers but will appeal to people of all ages. If one tries to imbibe at least some of Bangabandhu’s qualities by reading the book, the future leadership will be good for the nation. After the books are published, it is very important to take the initiative to teach them. Thanks to Vishwa Sahitya Kendra for the huge initiative to teach these books to children and teenagers. Vikas is proud to be a partner in this initiative.

It may be noted that Bikash has been associated with book distribution since the beginning of his journey. Since 2014, Bikash, a responsible corporate organization of the country, has been associated with Biswa Sahitya Kendra’s book reading program to develop the habit of reading books among the next generation. Bikash has so far distributed about 300,000 books to about 3,000 participating educational institutions under this program, through which at least 300,000 readers have benefited.
