After a successful investigation report, a suspect has been arrested for terrible crimes in Sint-Niklaas. The man is said to have raped a 69-year-old woman during a home invasion in Sint-Niklaas.
The facts took place on Sunday, March 3. An unknown man rang the victim’s doorbell. As soon as she opened the door, the man pushed her inside. After a while, the man left the house, leaving the victim injured. He stole some cash and the woman’s cell phone. He fled in the direction of the station, where several cameras were able to capture him during his ride to Antwerp.
“Following the investigation report that Faroek distributed about the facts, some useful tips were received,” the East Flanders public prosecutor’s office reports. “On this basis, a suspect, a 28-year-old man from Somalia, could be identified and arrested.”
The man will be brought before the investigating judge in Dendermonde today. The health of the victim, who already had difficulty walking, has deteriorated sharply since the facts.
