SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- Former US President Donald Trump indicated that the leadership in Cuba could “be changed” if he is re-elected in November.

“I want to express my admiration and support for all the brave people of Cuba, who rise up against the vile communist regime,” Trump said in a video published this Friday on his Truth Social social network. “It is not easy and we appreciate it and it will change.”

“Under Cuba’s brutal and corrupt dictators, the Cuban people suffer terrible food shortages, power outages, poverty, political repression and religious persecution,” he added.

In the midst of an economic crisis that has forced the Government to request help from the World Food Program (WFP), the former president recognized that the country faces a lack of food, fuel and medicine.

The situation has generated protests on the island, while authorities continue to blame the US government for the critical condition that sparked the demonstrations. The regime in Havana continues to accuse the United States of interventionism in the face of the continuous human suffering of Cubans.

Trump said that he and his allies are closely monitoring the situation in Cuba and that he fully supports the Cuban people.

The probable presidential candidate of the Republican Party also established a contrast with President Biden, stating that the current president has been “weak” on this matter.

“I want the people of Cuba to know that we are watching very closely what is happening in Santiago, every minute of the day,” Trump said. “We are with you. Under my administration, we will once again be very strong against the oppressors.”

“Unlike corrupt Joe Biden, who has been very weak with the communists, I am with the Cuban people. He is not with them,” he continued. “He doesn’t care about them. They couldn’t care less. “I echo his call for the release of political prisoners in Cuba.”

“We must have free and fair elections,” he said. “Our country has some problems with that too, by the way, above all, I share your vision of a safe, prosperous and free Cuba. God bless the Cuban people and God bless the United States.”

Last November, Donald Trump, during a political rally in Henry Milander Park in Hialeah, the heart of the Cuban community, promised that he will be the best president the Cuban community has ever had.

“No one did more for Americans who love Cuba than a gentleman named Donald Trump when he was president,” said the former president.

In his speech, before thousands of people who gathered in the park, Trump blamed Joe Biden’s administration for ruining the economy and national security of the United States.
