Over 50 elective procedures have already been performed at remote locations

Vienna (OTS) Below we would like to provide a current update on the occasion of the temporary relocation of the inpatient services at the Vienna-Brigittenau Trauma Center.

LOCATION BRIGITTENAU / LORENZ BÖHLER

Ambulance service:
As reported, an initial examination clinic for self-arriving patients continues to operate from 12 a.m. to midnight and, as in the past, continues to have the goal of caring for newly injured patients and is equipped accordingly.

This includes:

– Carrying out wound care under local anesthesia

– the entire infrastructure of imaging examination methods (X-ray, CT, ultrasound, MRI)

– the conservative treatment of fractures or strains or dislocations of joints in the sense of (if necessary) adjustment and immobilization in a bandage or plaster

From April 1st to April 21st, 2,289 patients received initial treatment in our outpatient clinic at the Brigittenau location, and 119 patients were seen for follow-up treatment.

Further procedure at the Brigittenau location:
We are still in close coordination with the authorities regarding the prompt commissioning of parts of the operating room area in order to be able to carry out day-care procedures. We are confident that we will be able to publish further information about this and further construction steps soon.

DISLOCATED LOCATIONS / PLAN OPERATIONS

TZW Meidling:
The “Lorenz Böhler Station” has been in operation at our Meidling location since the beginning of April and is currently occupied by 31 patients on a daily basis. Scheduled operations at the Brigittenau site have been processed since April 15th – 44 operations have already been carried out to date.

Private Clinic Confraternität:

For around 130 elective procedures, a cooperation has been concluded with the private clinic Confraternität in Vienna-Josefstadt, where an operating room will be available every Friday in the coming weeks for operations originally planned at the Brigittenau location. Last Friday, the first eight planned operations were successfully carried out, all of them hand surgical in nature.

Vienna General Hospital:
Today, the normal ward at the Vienna General Hospital was opened, in which acute patients are treated by trauma surgeons from the Vienna General Hospital/MedUni Vienna with the support of nursing and anesthesia staff from AUVA. The ward has 23 beds, which – depending on the influx of patients – will be full until the end of April. The start of the intensive care unit (6 beds) is still planned for May 6th.

Plan-Operation:
As last reported, 379 planned interventions had to be reorganized. Desired dates were found for all operations at the Meidling and Confraternität locations. Some patients who could not yet be reached by telephone were offered a written appointment and asked to provide appropriate feedback. It was agreed with those patients whose desired appointment was in autumn/winter that they would be contacted again over the course of the summer.
